Cloth Pegs Holding the Dark & the Giant Pear began as a lamp built from cloth pegs and a metal frame for Inabstracto on Queen Street West, Toronto. Over time it stopped emitting light and became a dark sculpture — an object that holds shadow rather than dispersing it.
Now it rests in the backyard woods of the Byrd House in Baltimore, held in shade beneath the giant pear — an improbable companion, tender, monumental, and strangely grounding.
