Cloth Pegs Holding the Dark
& the Giant Pear
began as a lamp built from cloth pegs and a metal frame for Inabstracto on Queen Street West, Toronto. Over time it stopped emitting light and became a dark sculpture — an object that holds shadow rather than dispersing it. Now it rests in the backyard woods of the Byrd House in Baltimore held in shade beneath the giant pear—an improbable companion, tender, monumental, and strangely grounding.
